About Us

Ron  Hamilton is the Lead Elder/Pastor of LifeGate Church. His wife Libby  serves with him on the LifeGate Elder Council team.He is a  third-generation native Charlestonian with his roots in the Southern  Baptist church. His grandfather, Zachariah Pierce Hamilton, founded a  church in downtown Charleston, SC in 1920 that is still flourishing  today.

At  age 25, Ron was revolutionized by the Holy Spirit and ever since has  carried a clear call to activate believers into the world with God‘s  love and presence and dynamic power.

Ron  and Libby have been in ministry together for over 46 years. They served  at Northwood Assembly and then joined joined Pastor Greg and Debbie  Surratt in 1988, helping them start Seacoast Church, where he served as a  pastor and Libby served in the worship ministry for 30 years, establishing Seacoast Church West Ashley  Campus in 2003 as part of the multi-site church movement’s pioneering  start. He also founded a school in 2015, the Jesus School of Ministry, to activate believers more in  the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

In  2017, Ron stepped out of his role at Seacoast Church to step fully into  the ministry of The Gate Community. He and Libby have been married for  46 years and they have a daughter, Jessica, a son, Joel and 2  grandsons, Tevoda and Bright.

Pastors Jan and Fred Denham established Abundant Life Church on July 14th, 1975, with one message in mind: Come together as one Church of Charleston!  "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matt. 18:20, NKJV 

The mission has always been to praise and pray together in the power of the Holy Spirit and God meeting us with signs and wonderment, making Abundant Life Church a house of prayer for ALL people. 

They have been married for 50 years and have 3 children, Christie, Kerri and David along with 8 grandkids.

Byron is an Elder/Pastor at LifeGate. His wife Sue serves with him on the LifeGate Elder Council team. They have been involved with ministries since 1981 starting with Northwood Assembly (7 years) and Seacoast Church (34 years). At Seacoast Church Byron served in the children’s ministry and Sue served on the worship team, and they led numerous small groups and other outreaches during those years.  Byron also served as the lead missionary to Sri Lanka for 18 years. Byron and Sue have partnered with Ron and Libby in ministry for over 44 years. They love to see believers equipped and anchored in God and be an influence wherever their gifts and talents take them.

Byron and Sue have been married 43 years and have 2 children, a son Joshua and a daughter McKayla.

 Henrietta is an elder on the LifeGate Elder Council. Her journey in ministry began in 1982 when she was commissioned as a missionary while attending God House Evangelistic Church, dedicating herself to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and praying for the sick. 

Henrietta joined Abundant Life Ministries in 1986 serving in the children's ministry and nursery for several years, the praise and worship team and as an Elder.  One of her most memorable experiences was traveling to Nicaragua with the youth group of Abundant Life Church.

Henrietta has served as  president of the local chapter of Women’s Aglow International and has been a member of Sure Foundation, a prayer ministry, for over 30 years. She is a widow and the proud mother of three children—Anzer, Nickisha, and Nicholas —and three grandchildren: Riley, Noelle, and Kingston.
